BioDaphne was brought up to be a trophy wife to a rich pureblood, preferably a Slytherin and preferably one with alliances to the Death Eaters, but so long as he was pureblooded and wealthy, her parents weren't too picky. Daphne, however, had other ideas about her life. She was clever and had an aptitude for potions. She was never competition for Tracey or Pansy in her eyes, but her father wanted her to be. He wanted her to be the next Mrs. Malfoy or Mrs. Zabini. He would have also settled for Mrs. Goyle, Mrs. Nott, or Mrs. Crabbe. Even Mrs. Flint or Pucey... are we getting the idea? Daphne was all set to take the Dark Mark when the war went bad and Voldemort was killed - along with her mother. Her father went a bit mad in his grief over her mother's death. He had battled his depression for years, but recently took his own life. Daphne is so jaded and numbed now that she felt little to nothing at his passing. She doesn't like anyone or anything except brewing, and now she can't even really do that because Snape buggered off. The family fortune is gone, either used to pay funeral bills or seized by the Ministry. Daphne has no money coming in and no prospects on the horizon. She sees an eviction in her future. Things are not looking good. Not that Daphne REALLY cares.
